What Your Body is Trying to Tell You

signs and symptoms of disease

Mastering the Ancient Signals of the Body

Our body is the result of thousands of years of evolution. Long before modern technology, before x-ray machines, microscopes and blood tests, humanity had ways of assessing, understanding and dealing with health problems. Ayurvedic science is the most ancient systematic health system in the world, and with over six-thousand years of continuous practice, it has some of the most advanced fundamental practices related to health.

How did Ancient Health Practitioners Diagnose Disease?

We know that ancient peoples didn’t have the range of medical tools we have today. There were no diagnostic laboratories, blood tests, MRI’s or Ultrasound machines. There were no computer displayed imaging systems, and they couldn’t place a camera on an optical tube to see inside the body. So how did early practitioners identify disease?

Diagnosis was determined by refined observation skills. Our body starts to show signs of illness and deficiency quiet quickly, and a well trained and observant person can assess these signs without the use of invasive tools. Accurate physical observation not only tells the presence of a disease, but how severe it is, how long it has been there, and how successful treatment is likely to be.

Physical Observations that Reveal Disease or Deficiency

Hepatitis

When somebody has pale looking eyes, tongue and skin, we can see they have jaundice, which is the result of hepatitis. If the colour is closer to turmeric yellow, then the condition is severe. If the colour is merely pale, then it is in the initial stages. Being able to assess the extent of the condition enables the doctor to accurately assess the health of the liver and so deliver the most accurate treatment.

Iron Deficiency

Iron deficiency causes discolouration under the eyes, along with dark rings. The practitioner can ascertain the severity of the deficiency by observing the nature of the discolouration. For instance, if the discolouration is only slight, then the iron deficiency isn’t very severe, but if there are little dots under the eye, the body’s iron levels are seriously low.

Energy Levels

The body’s energy levels can also be determined through observation of the eye. For instance, if a person’s eyes are wide open, then they have adequate energy levels. If, however, the eyelids rest a little low, then the body is suffering lower energy levels.

Digestive System

A person’s skin texture talks a lot about their organs and body health. If someone has bad skin texture all the time, then it probably means their digestive system is not working very well.

Pancreas Issues

If someone has black or greyish qualities under their growing skin, then it means that their pancreas is not working properly, for example they may be diabetic.

Thyroid Problems

Any kind of discolouration in the throat or neck area, or a granule formation in the throat, indicates a thyroid issue.
