Types of Arthritis (Rheumatoid | Osteoarthritis) Symptoms – Your Arthritis Treatment Plan

Arthritis is a long-term chronic condition which tends to come and go, but over the long term generally worsens. There are two types of arthritis ; rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Arthritis Symptoms include :

Pain, redness and swelling in the joints, reduced movement in the joint, joint pain that is worse in the morning, dry and cracking joints, accompanying fever, muscle weakness and spreading pain.

Arthritis Treatment

Mainstream medicine claims that there is no cure for rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, but attempts to minimise the symptoms with the use of painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids and other medications. The Ayurvedic treatment plan will be very different.

Ayurveda recognises that a metabolic problem very often lies at the root of the symptoms of arthritis. Certainly, there are many possible food triggers and one of the first tasks in your individual assessment prior to drawing up a personalised treatment plan is to identify your particular triggers. Food is not the only item which has to be considered. For example, occupational factors can contribute strongly as can other lifestyle habits, such as standing all day, and climate can also be involved. We also have to consider the impact of certain practices within different cultures, for example many Indians consume large quantities of kidney beans, dal or other pulses which contain neurotoxic peptides.

Having identified individual triggers we are able to give you advice on appropriate adjustments to diet and lifestyle. However, we are aware that it is sometimes impractical to insist on avoidance of a particular food or practice, in which case we set out to provide you with antidotes. These can take various forms, for example we might suggest light yogic exercises.

Every Ayurvedic treatment plan has a longer term objective. Another vital part of your assessment involves identifying which organs are in need of treatment. Joints, ligaments and cartilages will generally need strengthening in the case of arthritis. We may utilise treatments to help open up your body channels, thereby improving your metabolism. We will also place great importance on detoxification. At the Yatan Hoistic Ayurvedic Centre we are able to draw upon a comprehensive range of treatments from which we will suggest those that we consider most suitable for your individual requirements.

It does not generally take very long for positive results to be achieved, particularly if you are not taking a lot of arthritis drugs. If you are a sufferer you owe it to yourself to tackle the problem in a different way. We look forward to your attending for an initial assessment following which we would be able to prepare your very own Ayurvedic arthritis treatment plan.
