Uterine Fibroids in the Uterus: Symptoms (Causes) Treatment

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus, uterine fibroids. They are very common, at least 1 in 4 women developing one or more in their lifetime. They usually cause no symptoms but some fibroid symptoms can include heavy periods, spotting, bloating, urinary problems and pain.

Fibroids generally develop in women between 30 and 50 years, in any event before menopause, and although fibroid causes are not fully understood it is known that their growth is promoted by high levels of oestrogen. While some fibroids are about the size of a pea others can be as big as a melon. They can increase or decrease in size, or even disappear altogether. In serious cases surgery is the only sensible option, but the Ayurvedic treatment plan aims to offer a less drastic solution.

Ayurveda sees fibroids in the uterus as being indicative of a hormone imbalance, together with a sluggish metabolism which causes an accumulation of Kapha. One of the first steps in an Ayurvedic fibroids treatment plan is therefore to introduce a Kapha reducing diet. Many people benefit from a high protein diet consisting of 40% meat and 60% vegetables.

Ayurvedic formulations are used to balance the hormones and to speed up the metabolism and steps are taken to reduce the bleeding where necessary.

A daily 20 minute yoga program consisting of Yoga Mudra, Yoga Mudrasana, the Locust Posture and Sun Salutation assists in changing the areas where fat is accumulated.

Ayurvedic uterine fibroids treatment can be very effective when the problem is addressed in its early stages. For more information on  fibroids treatment or to book a consultation please call the Yatan Holistic Health Care Healing Ayurvedic Centre on 1300 552 260 in Australia Sydney.
