Panic Attack | Depression and Anxiety Disorder Treatment

Depression and Anxiety Treatment | Panic Attack Treatment

With all the stresses that form a part of modern life it is small wonder that our fight or flight mechanisms can become overwhelmed and when this happens repeatedly over a prolonged period panic attack or anxiety disorders can be the eventual outcome.

Unfortunately, this is becoming an increasingly common phenomenon and it sometimes leads to a long-term dependency on pharmaceutical drugs. If, as frequently happens, the immune system becomes compromised, immune-suppressants can be the next stage of treatment and it becomes increasingly difficult to escape from the downward spiral that ensues. Depression and anxiety often go hand in hand so treating the anxiety disorder early on will reduce the chance of depression developing later.

To have a realistic prospect of treating panic attack and anxiety effectively it is essential to understand adrenal stress. The adrenal glands produce the stress hormones – adrenaline, cortisol and DHEA – as a natural response to enable us to deal with all of life’s stresses, but when these stresses are unremitting the adrenals eventually become exhausted. This even affects other organs and systems, for example elevated production of cortisol over a long period will decrease the production of thyroid hormone and this has a profound impact on the entire metabolic process. The bone marrow becomes depleted and the organs become deficient in essential nutrients. Eventually the immune system is affected and the body finds itself stuck in a vicious downward spiral.

Ayurvedic treatment  includes providing medicines to supply the essential nutrients to the adrenals to be the priority. Dietary and lifestyle factors need to be carefully addressed to put the body into a stronger situation to heal itself.  Yoga, meditation and establishing a consistent daily routine are all important parts of a treatment plan.  All of this takes time but when all of these factors are included in a treatment regime a gradual restoration of energy will be experienced.
