Ayurvedic Beauty Products

Ayurveda takes all aspects of good health very seriously, and in doing so it fully recognises that in order to feel good a person needs to be conscious of looking good in society. It therefore utilises diet and herbs in such a way as to enhance natural beauty, promoting a healthy, radiant appearance.

Ayurvedic medicines are available for every conceivable purpose.  For example, medicines derived from mica are excellent for both the skin and the hair. Some medicines originally intended for treating the liver have also been found to enhance beauty. Bhringraj, for example, has traditionally been used in Ayurvedic treatment of liver disorders, but it was discovered to greatly enhance the hair. Surma, used for many eye problems, is not only cooling and restorative but also enhances the eyes’ beauty. Combinations of herbs are also used in the formulation of medicines to firm and tone the tissues, for example a paste which if smeared around the breast daily for a few weeks can greatly improve the tone of the breast muscles.

Because of their chemical content many modern beauty products can have serious side-effects but the Ayurvedic herbal products do not present any such danger. Ayurveda has a different approach, in looking at total health from the inside to the outside.
