Prostatitis or Prostate Problems Symptoms | Prostate Cancer Treatment

Prostate Problems Treatment

The prostate gland is a small gland found only in men. It is located between the penis and the bladder and surrounds the urethra – the tube that carries urine from the bladder. Enlargement of the gland is a common condition associated with ageing; about one third of all men over 50 will have symptoms of prostate enlargement or prostate problems. In some cases prostatitis or prostate cancer may develop.

When this happens it can place pressure on the urethra, affecting normal urination. Some prostatitis symptoms are:

  • Making it difficult to start urinating
  • Reducing the flow of urine or causing it to stop and start
  • Causing straining
  • Causing more frequent urination but incomplete evacuation
  • Reducing holding capacity
  • Dribbling

Prostatitis treatment often uses drugs to relax the prostate muscles or to reduce its size, and in more severe cases surgery is used to remove all or part of the gland. Neither of these measures provides a solution to the underlying problem, in fact when surgery is performed at an early stage the problem often returns later.

Ayurvedic prostatitis treatment focuses on reducing the accumulation of fat. This can be seen as a very similar situation to the formation of fibroids in women. Both men and women over the age of 40 are liable to congestive conditions of this type. Ayurvedic medicines are used to flush out the congestion, to improve energy levels and to balance the male hormones. The medicines also encourage an increase in the volume of urine passed on each occasion but a reduction in the number of visits to the toilet.

Diet is another important factor in both Ayurvedic prostate cancer treatment and prostatitis treatment. Asparagus and choko are recommended foods and tea made solely with hot water can be very beneficial. Peppermint tea is especially recommended. A high protein diet is to be avoided and plenty of vegetables and fruits are to be encouraged. It is very important to drink plenty of water at all times in order to reduce the acidity in the bladder which is caused by urine retention. Where the stomach is carrying excess weight, steps should be taken to reduce this as it will otherwise increase the pressure on the lower abdomen.

The Ayurvedic prostatitis treatment plan will also include some yoga exercises. Yoga Mudrasana, the Locust Posture, the Peacock posture and Uddiyana all help to squeeze the prostate gland and assist in reducing the accumulation of fat.

Prostate enlargement is a slow process but if it is ignored there is always a possibility of much more serious problems to come. Ayurvedic treatment at an early stage could make invasive treatments in the future unnecessary.
