Post-Surgical Recovery – Speeding The Healing

Most surgical procedures involve a post-surgical recovery period, and this can often be a long, painful process. Skin, bone, tendons, ligaments and nerves all take time to heal. Ayurvedic treatment can help to speed up the healing process with the use of both internal and external medicines, but these need to be selected according to the organ being treated as well as being matched to the individual patient.

Some years ago, I had to undergo microsurgery to repair serious injury to a finger, in which the tendons and nerves had been severed. I was told that the recovery would be likely to take from six months to a year and that considerable pain would be inevitable. I was advised to take Panadol to help me deal with the pain – something I had never done in my life before. The drug made me feel so bad that I decided to make up a remedy of my own, and I proceeded to put together a herbal formulation. When I tried this out I discovered that its effects lasted for four hours after each dose. Happily, I had no further need for Panadol.

However, the full effects of my herbal formulation greatly exceeded my expectations. My finger had completely healed within three months, whereas another patient who had a similar operation at the same time took very much longer and suffered from recurring infections. Furthermore, if I had not been wearing a sling nobody would have known that anything was wrong with me as I was both looking and feeling much better than I had been before the surgery.

As the old saying goes, “Necessity is the mother of invention”. I have long realized that the body is capable of healing itself without infection, given the right materials. This conviction happily inspired me to create my own perfect medicine.
