How To Clear A Blocked Nose? Nasal polyps (Irrigation) Treatment

Nasal polyps are abnormal growths of tissue within the nasal passages and the sinuses. Although orthodox medicine is not clear as to the cause of these protrusions in the mucus lining it recognises that risk factors include long-term sinusitis. Large nasal polyps can block the nasal passage and cause symptoms of sinus such as a blocked and runny nose and a loss of smell and taste. Standard treatment generally involves the use of steroids to shrink the nasal polyps or surgical removal, but they usually grow back months or years later.

Ayurveda sees the problem as being symptomatic of an aggravation of Kapha. When sinusitis persists over a long period the mucus lining dries up. The immune system tries to correct the problem but the situation often goes out of control and polyps form.

Ayurveda sinusitis treatment is the same as for sinus. It can be effective if it is carried out in the early stages, and focuses on strengthening the immune system with the help of appropriate Ayurvedic medicines.

Use of the Neti pot is highly beneficial for nasal irrigation and sinus drainage. Its effectiveness can be greatly enhanced if it is used in conjunction with the traditional practice of Sutra Neti, which involves flossing the nasal passages. The latter should only be performed under the supervision of an Ayurvedic practitioner, to avoid the possibility of an infection developing. Ayurvedic nasal drops form another important part of the nasal polyps treatment.

Nasal Polyps Treatment essentially involves prevention. If you need help in overcoming this condition please contact us at the Yatan Holistic Ayurvedic Centre on 1300 552 260. Call us for 10 minutes free consultation.
