How To Buy Massage Oils Online

There is no shortage of massage oils available these days, some simply for use in a relaxing massage and others designed to treat specific parts of the body or everyday ailments. Some of these are available as single oils, and others as blends. To choose wisely it is helpful to be aware of the differing properties of the various types.

The most common oils on the market are almond, sesame, coconut, and mustard oil.

  • Armond oil goes deep into the tissues, and is especially good for tonifying the skin, the tendons, the cartilages and the hair.
  • Sesame oil is highly penetrative and warming and is absorbed very quickly. It is very nutrient dense, and its zinc content assists in collagen production, resulting in smoother, more elastic skin.
  • Coconut oil is very light and easily absorbed and has good skin softening properties. It is also antifungal and and antibacterial.
  • Mustard oil is also highly penetrative and warming, with antibacterial properties.

Whereas half a century ago all the massage oils on the market tended to be very thick, many of those available nowadays have the opposite problem. Lacking in consistency, they tend to dry up very quickly.

Ayurvedic herbal massage oils are made from a wide variety of herbs. When an Ayurvedic massage is correctly performed these are selected to match the body constitution and individual needs. In this way they are beneficial to general well-being as well as treating specific organs. At the Yatan Holistic Ayurvedic Centre we have developed our own range of dense herbal massage oils which are made to a very high standard to ensure their effectiveness.

If you have no specific need then a simple oil may be adequate for your needs but if you wish to address a specific problem please contact us for practical advice. For  the very best results you can do no better than book a constitutional assessment. Choosing an effective treatment is then no longer a matter of guesswork.
