Low Testosterone Symptoms (Low libido in women) Treatment

Not Now Honey – I Have A Headache

For a woman who has once had a healthy sex drive, few things can be as frustrating and disappointing as a lack of sexual desire, and the effect on a relationship can be devastating. Low libido in women can happen at any time of life but it is particularly common through the menopause.

Hormonal fluctuations are at the root of low libido. At this stage in a woman’s life there is a marked fall in the levels of oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone, as a result of which energy levels are lowered and a decline in sex drive can follow. Where stress is a factor adrenal fatigue is likely, and serotonin and melatonin deficiency can aggravate the problem even further.

A cleansing and purifying diet is an essential part of restoring equilibrium to the system in order to rectify hormonal balance and provide relief from low libido. Certain foods can be immensely useful in this respect. Asparagus, in addition to having a high content of nutrients that benefit the reproductive system and alkalise the system, is excellent for purifying the kidneys and opening the lymphatic channels. This has the effect of opening the mind and stimulating the sexual energy. Water-melon has been described as ‘natural Viagra’. It contains chemicals that are precursors of nitric oxide, which relaxes the blood vessels and thereby improves blood flow; it is also one of Nature’s best alkalising foods.

Ayurveda has some excellent exercises to improve low libido and stamina. The Indian Push-Ups and Squat are especially valuable in this respect. As well as involving all the major muscle groups, including the legs, arms, back, hips and abdominals, these exercises help to tone the internal organs, increasing lung power and circulation. Full instructions are to be found in the book Yatan Yoga, available on our website.

Ayurvedic low testosterone in women treatments, as well as the other sex hormones, such as massage therapy and ‘marma’ point therapy – the Ayurvedic equivalent of reflexology – can also be of great help in restoring balance.

As always, an individual Ayurvedic consultation is strongly recommended for anyone who feels in need of guidance in overcoming low libido or symptoms of low testosterone. A tailor-made program will not only put you on the fast track to recovery but will set you up for a good healthy balance in the future.
