Nutrition Consultation
An in depth consultation focusing on detailed
dietary advice for your dosha type and imbalance.
Ayurvedic nutrition is a
system that involves matching the correct foods with a
person’s individual constitution and needs. This takes into
account the nutritional content of the food and the person’s
ability to absorb its nutrients. For example, if a person
has had diarrhea and due to that has become anemic, he is
advised to avoid meat. Although one may think the iron from
the meat will be beneficial to him, it is heavy to digest
and his system will be so taxed that he will be unable to
absorb the nutrients. A more appropriate meal would include
mung beans, lentil soup and rice.
Although Ayurvedic
nutrition is beneficial for general wellbeing it stresses
that some foods are not suitable for some body types. Vata
types are aggravated by cold foods and drinks and gas
producing foods such as kidney beans. They are balanced by
warm foods such as soups, warm drinks, spicy foods and
ginger. A person suffering from a skin allergy or eczema
would be advised to abstain from citrus, sour, spicy and
salty food.
You may require more of
certain foods and less of others in the case of certain
sickness and to assist healing your body system.
Ayurvedic nutrition
stresses what an individual requires for optimum health by
defining what food types agree with your constitution and
personal needs.
You don’t need to be
unwell to benefit from a consultation – it is of great
benefit for maintaining and improving your general health
and wellbeing.
