Abhyanga Massage
A relaxing therapeutic massage using
herbalised massage oils suited to your dosha type.
Abhyanga (Ayurvedic
massage) is an important part of the Ayurvedic
detoxification process. This Ayurvedic treatment conceives
that over time, waste material starts to accumulate in
different parts of the body.
This buildup of waste
begins to create an imbalance of the doshas (vata, pitta and
kapha) and reduces the ability of the related organs.
For example, fluid
retention, lymphatic blockage and swelling of the groin are
all symptoms of kapha imbalances.
Pain in any part of the
body indicates that excess air has accumulated in those
areas which is due to vata imbalance.
When inflammation,
rashes and itchy ulcers appear anywhere in the body, the
pitta dosha is out of balance.
To
rebalance the body and reduce waste accumulation in the
organs, the practitioner will assess the patient’s dosha
imbalance and choose which types of oil will be best suited
to massage with. Because Ayurvedic massage is tailored
specifically to the individual, a single treatment may
require various herbal oils to treat different parts of the
body.
The style of massage - gentle, firm, deep
tissue etc can be adjusted to suit the client's preference
and also the type of imbalance being experienced.
